Bespoke solution for Pick n Pay Clothing flagship store

We were delighted to partner with Pick n Pay Clothing on the launch of its flagship store at Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Durban, featuring a tribute to founder Raymond Ackerman. The store includes unique design elements like sugar cane ceiling panels, light fixtures shaped like the Tugela River, and tribal prints celebrating the local culture inspired by Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Rubicon supplied the striking 72-meter custom-built light fixture that runs through the centre of the store, designed to mimic the shape of the Tugela River. We also provided the decorative lighting elements for the Drakensberg wall and the fitting rooms, bringing the space to life. The store also features energy-efficient appliances and energy meters, designed to achieve a 6-star Green Building Council rating.

The design features unique elements such as sugar cane panels on the ceiling and light fixtures to mimic the Tugela River. Additionally, customers will notice local tribal prints on various fixtures, highlighting the rich local culture. The fitting rooms, designed to resemble shipping containers, pay tribute to the Port of Durban. They showcase historical details celebrating landmarks such as the Comrades Marathon, the Red Desert, and Raymond Ackerman, the founder of Pick n Pay.
