At Rubicon, we love pushing the boundaries of our technology. Our skilled Sustainable Buildings team implemented a cutting-edge battery energy storage system (BESS) at the University of Cape Town's electrical mechanical engineering building.
This impressive setup includes a 250kW ATESS bypass cabinet, a 250kW ATESS PCS, and 515kWh of WeCo batteries. The BESS was designed to deliver many benefits – reducing the university’s reliance on diesel generators, ensuring a seamless transition from grid power to backup power during loadshedding, and allowing students to continue using heavy-duty equipment uninterrupted.
